On February 25, 1959, the 18-year-old plaintiff was driving her car in Milwaukee and the car was struck from the rear when it was standing still. The impact was with such force as to demolish the cars rear end. The car was pushed forward one and one-half car lengths. The frame and sides were buckled and the front seat was broken off from its tracks and was pushed backwards against the back seat. The plaintiff was thrown forward and backward in a whiplash fashion and her head was thrust against the rear view mirror.
